Description
Simple and delicious Balsamic Garlic Grilled Mushroom Skewers are perfect for quick BBQ nights, offering a glossy, garlicky flavor that pairs well with various dishes.
Ingredients
For the Marinade
- 1/3 cup balsamic vinegar (Use for marinating the mushrooms)
- 3 tablespoons olive oil (Helps the mushrooms brown)
- 3-4 cloves fresh garlic, minced (Fresh is best, but jar garlic works too)
- 3/4 teaspoon salt (Adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (Adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce or tamari (optional) (For deeper flavor)
Main Ingredients
- 1-1.5 pounds whole mushrooms (Cremini, button, or portobello work well)
- to taste salt and black pepper (For seasoning during grilling)
- as needed skewers (metal or wooden) (If using wooden skewers, soak for 20-30 minutes)
Instructions
Preparation
- Clean the mushrooms by wiping them with a damp paper towel or rinsing them under water.
- Trim the stems only if they look woody.
- Toss the mushrooms in the marinade, ensuring they are fully coated.
- If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 20-30 minutes to prevent burning.
- Thread mushrooms onto the soaked skewers, packing them close together but not smashing.
Grilling
- Heat the grill to medium-high and clean the grates to prevent sticking.
- Place the mushroom skewers on the grill and cook for about 8 to 12 minutes, turning every 2 to 3 minutes.
- Look for mushrooms that are browned and slightly wrinkled at the edges. If they start to look dry, remove them from the grill sooner.
Notes
Pair these skewers with other grilled items like zucchini or seafood for a complete meal. Use extra marinade carefully; simmer it in a pan before serving it on cooked foods.
