- 1/2 cup Brown sugar (Adds sweetness)
- 1/4 cup Apple cider vinegar (Brings tang)
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce (Adds depth)
- 1 tablespoon Yellow mustard (Gives brightness)
- 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika (For the smoky flavor)
- 1 teaspoon Garlic powder (No chopping needed)
- 1 teaspoon Onion powder (No chopping needed)
- 1 teaspoon Black pepper (Finish for flavor)
- 1 teaspoon Salt (Balance the flavor)
- to taste Hot sauce, cayenne, or chili flakes (For an optional kick)
Instructions
Preparation
- Add ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard to a small saucepan.
- Sprinkle in smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Turn the heat to medium and stir until it looks smooth.
- Once it starts to gently bubble, lower the heat and let it simmer for 8 to 12 minutes, stirring every minute or so.
- Taste it and adjust seasoning with extra salt, sugar, or vinegar as desired.
Notes
Let the sauce cool for a few minutes before the final taste. Store in a clean jar in the fridge for up to 7 to 10 days. It can be frozen for up to 3 months.
