Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Tortillas (corn or flour)
  • 1 can Refried beans (Canned is fine.)
  • 1 cup Shredded cheese (Cheddar, Mexican blend, or Monterey Jack recommended.)
  • 2 tablespoons Oil (For crisping in the pan.)

Optional Seasonings

  • to taste Salt (Most canned beans and cheese are already flavorful.)
  • 1 tablespoon Hot sauce (To stir into the beans if desired.)

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Warm the refried beans for a few seconds so they spread easily.
  2. Lay out your tortillas and spread a thin layer of beans on one half.
  3. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the beans and fold the tortilla in half.

Cooking

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a small drizzle of oil.
  2. Place tacos in the pan and cook until the bottom is golden and crisp, then flip and crisp the other side.
  3. Let them rest for a minute before serving.

Notes

For best results, keep the heat medium to avoid burning the tortillas while ensuring the cheese melts properly. Serve with your favorite toppings.
