This quick and easy one-pot pasta dish is filled with sweet, smoky flavors from BBQ sauce and sausage, making it a perfect weeknight meal with minimal cleanup.

- 12 ounces Smoked sausage, sliced (like kielbasa or turkey smoked sausage)
- 12 ounces Pasta (like penne, rotini, or shells)
- 3/4 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite, smoked works great)
- 2-3 tablespoons Honey (for a sticky sweet finish)
- 3 cups Chicken broth (or water to cook the pasta)
- 1 small Onion, chopped (optional but adds flavor)
- 2-3 cloves Garlic, minced (adds aroma and flavor)
- 1-1.5 cups Shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella for a creamy finish)

- 1 tablespoon Butter or oil (for browning the sausage)
Instructions
Preparation
- Heat a large pot or deep skillet with butter or oil.
- Add sliced sausage and cook until the edges are browned.
- If using onion, add it and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until softened.
- Add garlic for the last 30 seconds.
Cooking
- Stir in BBQ sauce and honey and let warm for a minute.
- Pour in chicken broth, then add the dry pasta, stirring well.
- Bring to a gentle simmer, cover, and cook, stirring occasionally, for 10 to 14 minutes or until pasta is tender.
- Once pasta is tender and sauce is thick, turn off the heat and stir in cheese until melted.
- Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
Notes
Stir frequently to prevent sticking and keep heat at a gentle simmer. Adjust sweetness with honey according to taste. Extra vegetables can be added towards the end of cooking.
