Description

Indulge in this cozy and gourmet-inspired burrata grilled cheese sandwich that combines creamy burrata and melty mozzarella for the ultimate comfort food experience.

Ingredients

For the Sandwich

  • 2 slices sourdough or ciabatta bread (Choose sturdy bread that can hold the filling.)
  • 1 ball burrata, drained (Blot with paper towels to remove excess moisture.)
  • 2 slices low moisture mozzarella (Can also use shredded mozzarella.)
  • 1 pinch optional flavor cheese (provolone, fontina, or parmesan) (For added flavor.)
  • 1 tablespoon butter, softened (Can substitute with mayonnaise.)
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper (For seasoning.)
  • To taste add-ins (basil, tomatoes, balsamic glaze, chili flakes, garlic butter) (Customize with your preferred add-ins.)

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Drain the burrata and gently blot it with paper towels.
  2. Butter the outside of two slices of bread, adding garlic butter if desired.

Cooking

  1. Place one slice of bread butter side down in a cool pan.
  2. Add mozzarella first to create a melty base.
  3. Add torn burrata pieces in the center and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  4. If using, add basil and tomatoes lightly.
  5. Top with more mozzarella and place the second slice of bread on top, butter side up.
  6. Turn the heat to medium-low and cook for 4 to 6 minutes per side.
  7. Cover with a lid for part of the cooking time to help the cheese melt.
  8. Let the sandwich rest for 1 minute before slicing and serving.

Notes

For best results, control the heat and avoid wet ingredients to maintain crispiness. Enjoy with tomato soup or a salad as a side dish.
