Description
A quick and delicious creamy garlic shrimp recipe that feels fancy without taking much time to prepare, perfect for weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 pound Shrimp, peeled and deveined (Tail on or off is up to you)
- 2 tablespoons Butter (For flavor and starting the sauce)
- 2 tablespoons Olive oil (To prevent butter from browning too fast)
- 4 cloves Garlic, freshly minced (Use a generous amount for bold flavor)
- 1 cup Heavy cream (For the creamy base)
- 1 cup Chicken broth or seafood broth (To loosen the sauce)
- ½ cup Parmesan, grated (Optional but highly recommended)
- 1 teaspoon Salt (To taste)
- ½ teaspoon Black pepper (To taste)
- 1 tablespoon Lemon juice (To brighten the dish)
- ¼ cup Parsley, chopped (For garnish)
- ½ teaspoon Red pepper flakes (Optional for a bit of heat)
Instructions
Preparation
- Pat your shrimp dry with paper towels to avoid steaming.
Cooking
- Heat a large skillet over medium high heat and add olive oil and butter.
- Once the butter melts, add the shrimp in a single layer, cooking for about 1 to 2 minutes per side until pink and curled.
- Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
- Lower the heat to medium and add more butter if the pan looks dry, then add the garlic and stir for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Pour in the broth and scrape the pan to loosen any stuck bits, then add the cream and let it gently bubble for a couple of minutes.
- If using Parmesan, sprinkle it in and stir until smooth.
- Add the shrimp back into the skillet, coating them in the sauce and warming them through for 1 to 2 minutes.
- Squeeze in lemon juice, taste, and adjust salt and pepper.
Serving
- Serve topped with chopped parsley and red pepper flakes if desired.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat gently on the stove over low heat, adding a splash of broth or cream if needed.
