Description
A cozy, lightly spiced buttercream frosting made with apple butter, perfect for fall-themed cupcakes and cakes, easy to whip up and customize.
Ingredients
Frosting Base
- 1 cup Unsalted butter, softened (Room temperature, not melty)
- 1/2 cup Apple butter (Start with a smaller amount, adjust to taste)
- 2 cups Powdered sugar (Sifted if lumpy)
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract (Optional but nice)
- 1/2 teaspoon Ground cinnamon (Optional, adds cozy flavor)
- 1 pinch Salt (Helps the apple flavor pop)
- 1 tablespoon Milk or heavy cream (Only if needed to loosen the texture)
Instructions
Preparation
- Beat the softened butter until it looks creamy and slightly lighter in color, about 2 to 3 minutes.
- Add the apple butter and beat again until fully mixed in, scraping the bowl to avoid streaks.
- Add the powdered sugar in batches, starting with 1 cup at a time. Mix slowly initially, then increase speed.
- Mix in the vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt, then taste. Add more apple butter if desired.
- Adjust texture by adding a tiny splash of milk or cream if too thick, or add more powdered sugar if too soft.
- Ensure the frosting is smooth, holds a soft peak, and feels fluffy when swiped with a spoon.
Notes
Start with properly softened butter to avoid lumps. Sifting powdered sugar makes the frosting silkier. Adjust apple butter slowly to maintain the desired consistency.
