Description

Quick and delicious bite-sized treats made with crisp apples, sticky caramel, and a chocolate drizzles, perfect for fall gatherings or a sweet snack.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 to 3 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp are best for a crisp and tart taste.)
  • 1 cup caramel (caramel squares or caramel dip) (If using squares, add a splash of cream for melting.)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet, milk, or dark) (Optional: Add 1 teaspoon coconut oil for smoother melting.)
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil or shortening (Optional, helps chocolate melt smoother.)
  • 1 pinch salt (Optional, enhances the caramel flavor.)
  • N/A wooden sticks or toothpicks (Optional, makes dipping easier.)

Optional Toppings

  • N/A chopped peanuts, pecans, walnuts, crushed pretzels, toffee bits (For a crunchy topping.)
  • N/A mini chocolate chips, crushed cookies, sprinkles, mini marshmallows (For a sweet topping.)
  • N/A flaky sea salt, drizzle of white chocolate, cinnamon sugar (For a fancy topping.)

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Wash apples thoroughly to remove wax, then dry completely.
  3. Slice apples into thick rounds or wedges.

Caramel Coating

  1. Melt the caramel in a microwave-safe bowl with a splash of cream, stirring until smooth.
  2. Dip each apple piece into caramel, allowing excess to drip off, then place on parchment.
  3. Chill for 10 to 15 minutes until the caramel sets.

Chocolate Coating

  1. Melt chocolate chips, adding a bit of coconut oil if desired for smoothness.
  2. Dip or drizzle melted chocolate over the caramel-coated apples.
  3. Sprinkle on desired toppings before the chocolate sets.
  4. Chill again for 10 minutes, then serve.

Notes

These bites are best eaten fresh and should be stored in the fridge in a single layer if possible. Keep apples dry to prevent the coatings from sliding off.
