A quick and easy shrimp dish with a sticky honey garlic glaze, packed with protein and flavor, perfect for a fast dinner on busy nights.

Ingredients

For the shrimp

  • 1 pound Shrimp (peeled and deveined) (Large or jumbo shrimp recommended.)
  • 2 tablespoons Neutral oil or butter for cooking (For searing shrimp.)

For the sauce

  • 1/3 cup Honey (Can adjust amount based on preference.)
  • 3 cloves Garlic (freshly minced) (Fresh garlic is recommended over jarred.)
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce or tamari (Use low sodium if preferred.)
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil (Brings a warm, nutty flavor.)
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch (optional) (For a thicker glaze.)
  • to taste Black pepper (For seasoning.)
  • to taste Salt (optional) (If needed, soy sauce is already salty.)

Optional toppings

  • 2 tablespoons Green onions (sliced) (For garnish.)
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds (For garnish.)
  • 1 slice Lime (A squeeze for freshness.)

Instructions

Preparation

  1. If shrimp is frozen, thaw in a bowl of cold water for 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse and pat dry.
  2. Season shrimp lightly with black pepper.

Make the Honey Garlic Sauce

  1. In a small bowl, mix together honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil. If using cornstarch, combine 1 teaspoon cornstarch with 1 tablespoon water then add to the sauce mixture.

Cook the Shrimp

  1. In a skillet over medium-high heat, add a splash of oil or a bit of butter.
  2. Add shrimp in a single layer and cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side until pink and curled. Do not overcook.

Glaze the Shrimp

  1. Reduce heat to medium, pour sauce over shrimp, and toss for 30 to 60 seconds until the shrimp are coated and the sauce is glossy.
  2. Remove from heat immediately to prevent over-thickening.

Serve

  1. Sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve right away for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

For variations, try adding red pepper flakes for a spicy version or tossing in vegetables for added nutrition. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
