Description

A creamy, tangy, and slightly smoky sauce that enhances fish tacos and can be made in just five minutes.


Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup Mayonnaise (Use your favorite brand.)
  • 0.33 cup Sour cream (Adds tang and lightens the mayo.)

Flavor Enhancers

  • 1-2 tablespoons Lime juice (Fresh is best.)
  • 1 small clove Garlic (Grated or very finely minced.)
  • a few dashes Hot sauce (For warmth.)
  • 0.25 teaspoon Smoked paprika (Optional but recommended for a smoky flavor.)
  • to taste Salt (Add slowly and taste.)
  • to taste Pepper (Add slowly and taste.)

Optional Add-Ins

  • pinch Sugar (Optional for sweetness.)
  • splash Pickle juice (Optional for extra tang.)
  • a little Cumin (Optional for added depth.)


Instructions

Preparation

  1. In a small bowl, stir together mayo and sour cream until smooth.
  2. Add lime juice, grated garlic, and hot sauce. Stir to combine.
  3. Sprinkle in smoked paprika, plus salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  5. Let it sit in the fridge for 10-15 minutes for best flavor, but it’s good right away.

Notes

Great as a dip for fries, on shrimp bowls, or as a spread for sandwiches. Best if consumed within 3-5 days when refrigerated.
