Description

A cozy, gourmet sandwich that beautifully balances sweetness and savory flavors with crispy beef bacon, sharp cheddar, and fresh apples, all drizzled with hot honey.

Ingredients

Sandwich Ingredients

  • 2 slices Sourdough bread (Any sturdy sliced bread works.)
  • 4 oz Sharp cheddar cheese (Shredded for better melting.)
  • 1 medium Honeycrisp apple (Slice thinly. Granny Smith is also a good option.)
  • 2 slices Beef bacon (Cooked until crispy and patted dry.)
  • 1 tbsp Butter or mayo (Used for grilling.)
  • 2 tbsp Hot honey (Store bought or homemade.)

Optional Extras

  • pinch Flaky salt
  • pinch Black pepper
  • 1 swipe Dijon mustard (If you like a tang.)

Quick Hot Honey Sauce Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup Honey (For making hot honey.)
  • 1/2 to 1 tsp Red pepper flakes (Adjust based on heat preference.)
  • pinch Salt

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Cook the beef bacon first until crispy. Set on paper towels to cool.
  2. Slice the apple thinly to ensure it doesn’t make the sandwich awkward to bite.

Assembling the Sandwich

  1. Layer the sandwich: bread, cheddar cheese, apple slices, beef bacon, drizzle of hot honey, more cheddar, and top with the second slice of bread.

Cooking

  1. Heat a skillet over medium-low. Spread butter or mayo on the outside of both bread slices.
  2. Grill for 3 to 5 minutes per side, pressing gently until golden and the cheese melts. Adjust heat if browning too fast.

Finishing Up

  1. Let the sandwich sit for a minute before slicing to prevent cheese from spilling out.
  2. Slice and drizzle with additional hot honey if desired.

Notes

Wrap leftovers in foil or an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in a skillet for best results. To prevent apples from browning, toss them with a bit of lemon juice if sliced ahead of time.
