Description
These sliders combine classic Italian sub flavors in a quick, cheesy, and satisfying dish perfect for game day or gatherings.
Ingredients
For the sliders
- 1 pack Hawaiian rolls (Usually 12 rolls)
- 6 oz Deli meats (salami, pepperoni, ham or capicola) (Can use a mix of meats)
- 6 oz Provolone cheese (Mozzarella works as an alternative)
- 1/4 cup Sliced banana peppers or pepperoncini (Optional but recommended)
- 1/4 cup Red onion (Very thin slices, optional)
- 1 cup Shredded lettuce (For serving after baking)
- 1 medium Tomato (Slices added after baking to avoid sogginess)
- 1 tbsp Italian seasoning (For flavor)
- 1/2 cup Butter (For topping)
- 1 tsp Garlic powder (For flavor in the buttery topping)
- 1/4 cup Grated parmesan (Optional but recommended)
- 1/4 cup Italian dressing (Or quick oil and vinegar mix)
Instructions
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grab a baking dish or sheet pan that fits your rolls snugly.
- Slice the rolls horizontally as a slab, keeping them connected, and place the bottom half in the pan.
- Layer the deli meats: start with ham, then salami, followed by pepperoni, and top with provolone cheese.
- Sprinkle on banana peppers and red onion if using, then drizzle a little Italian dressing to add flavor without making the rolls soggy.
- Place the top half of the rolls back on.
Topping & Baking
- Melt the butter and stir in garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and parmesan. Brush this mixture over the tops of the rolls.
- Cover loosely with foil and bake for about 10 to 12 minutes until the cheese melts.
- Uncover and bake for an additional 5 to 8 minutes until the tops are golden.
- Let cool for a couple of minutes, then slice into individual sliders.
- Optionally, add shredded lettuce and tomato slices just before serving for a fresh topping.
Notes
For the best results, cover with foil while first baking to help the cheese melt before the tops brown. Avoid overdoing wet ingredients to keep the rolls from getting soggy. Let the sliders rest for a few minutes after baking for better slicing.
