Description

A quick and easy one-pan dinner featuring juicy sausage, sweet bell peppers, and caramelized onions, perfect for busy nights.

Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds Italian sausage (sweet or hot) (Choose sweet or hot based on preference.)
  • 3 large Bell peppers (Mix colors if possible.)
  • 1 large Yellow onion (Or use 2 small onions.)
  • 1.5 to 2 tablespoons Olive oil (For drizzling.)
  • 2 to 3 cloves Garlic, minced (Optional but highly recommended.)
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning (For flavoring.)
  • Salt and black pepper (To taste.)

Optional Extras

  • Crushed red pepper flakes (For heat.)
  • Balsamic vinegar (A splash at the end enhances flavor.)
  • Cherry tomatoes (For a saucy feel.)

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F and line a sheet pan with foil or parchment for easier cleanup.
  2. Slice the peppers into strips and the onion into thick strips, avoiding paper-thin cuts.
  3. In the prepared pan, add the peppers and onion. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and minced garlic if using. Toss to coat.
  4. Nestle the sausages among the veggies. If using linked sausages, keep them whole for juiciness.

Cooking

  1. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, flipping the sausages and stirring the veggies halfway through to ensure even roasting.
  2. For extra browning, broil for 1 to 3 minutes at the end, staying vigilant to prevent burning.

Notes

This dish pairs well with toasted hoagie rolls, rice, or pasta. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days. Reheat in a skillet or the oven for best texture.
