Description

A delicious and easy-to-make chicken dish featuring sweet honey, savory garlic, and zesty lemon that results in a flavorful meal everyone will enjoy.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 pieces chicken thighs or breasts (Thighs are juicier, breasts work great too.)
  • 1/2 cup honey (For that sticky sweetness.)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced (Fresh minced is best, jarred works in a pinch.)
  • 1 large lemon, zested and juiced (Zest plus juice makes the flavor pop.)
  • 2 teaspoons lemon pepper seasoning (The shortcut hero here.)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (To balance everything.)
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper (To balance everything.)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter (Helps the sauce cling.)

Optional Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (For deeper savory flavor.)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (For heat, if desired.)

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels to help the seasoning stick and achieve better browning.
  2. Season lightly with salt and lemon pepper before adding the marinade. Let sit for 10 minutes if time allows.

Make the Marinade

  1. In a bowl, combine honey, minced garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, lemon pepper, and oil. Taste and adjust seasoning.
  2. Let the chicken marinate for 20 to 30 minutes, or up to 6 hours for best flavor.

Cooking

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Place chicken in a baking dish and pour the marinade over it, ensuring each piece is coated.
  3. Bake until cooked through, thighs typically take 25 to 35 minutes, and breasts 18 to 25 minutes.
  4. In the last 5 to 8 minutes, spoon the pan sauce over the chicken for a sticky finish.
  5. Optional: Broil for 1 to 2 minutes at the end for caramelized edges.

Notes

Use a meat thermometer to ensure chicken reaches 165°F in the thickest part. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving for juicier chicken.
