  • 2-3 tablespoons Mayo or Greek yogurt (Use what you like)
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1-2 tablespoons Lemon juice

Optional Extras

  • Chopped parsley or dill, hot sauce, paprika (Optional add-ins for extra flavor)

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Drain the sardines and add them to a medium bowl.
  2. Mash them gently with a fork, keeping it a little chunky.
  3. Add mayo (or yogurt), Dijon, and lemon juice, stirring to combine.
  4. Fold in celery, onion, and pickles or capers.
  5. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed with more lemon, mayo, or pepper.
  6. Let it sit for 5 minutes to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

For meal prep, store the crunchy ingredients separately if desired and pack lemon wedges for freshness. This salad is naturally flexible and can be made keto-friendly or lower in calories by adjusting ingredients.
