Description

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour (Scoop and level for accurate measurement.)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, softened (Use room temperature butter.)
  • 2 large eggs (Use room temperature eggs.)
  • 0.5 cups milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup strawberries, sliced (Fresh strawberries preferred.)
  • Whipped cream for topping (Optional)


Instructions

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, combine the flour and baking powder. Gradually add to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture.
  5. Gently fold in the sliced strawberries.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.

Baking

  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Serving

  1. Serve with whipped cream on top, if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers covered at room temperature for up to two days. Wrap slices in plastic wrap for longer storage.
