Description

A cozy, one-pot recipe combining ground beef, hot dogs, and tater tots, topped with melted sharp cheddar for a comforting meal.


Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef (Browned and drained)
  • 8 pieces Hot dogs or smoked sausages (Sliced to tuck in)
  • 3 cloves Garlic (Chopped)
  • 1 32 ounce bag Tater tots, frozen (Do not thaw)
  • 1 10 ounce can Tomatoes with green chilies
  • 1 15 ounce can Tomato sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 2 tbsp Chili seasoning
  • 1 tsp Salt (Adjust to taste)
  • 2 cups Cheddar cheese, sharp (Shredded, to sprinkle on top before serving)


Instructions

Preparation

  1. In a pan, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add chopped garlic and diced onions to the beef and sauté until softened.

Cooking

  1. In a crockpot, combine the cooked beef mixture, sliced hot dogs, frozen tater tots, tomatoes with green chilies, tomato sauce, black pepper, chili seasoning, and salt.
  2. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 5 hours.
  4. About 15 minutes before serving, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top and cover until melted.
  5. Serve warm.

Notes

Serve straight from the crockpot. Optional toppings include extra cheddar, sliced green onions, pickled jalapeños, or sour cream. For lighter options, pair with a green salad.
